Female Ebola healthcare worker assaulted by crowd in eastern DR Congo

A female healthcare worker involved in the Ebola response was assaulted by a crowd in Mavivi, Beni, North Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to reports.

Video circulating online shows the healthcare worker being attacked by multiple individuals, prompting widespread calls for those responsible to be identified and held accountable.

According to preliminary reports, the woman was falsely accused by members of the crowd of spreading Ebola and causing deaths within the community. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the circumstances surrounding the allegations, and investigations into the incident are expected to continue.
