Explosive drone attack targets police station in Tadó, Chocó, Colombia
An explosive drone attack targeted a police station in Tadó, in Colombia’s Chocó region, on July 4, 2026, in an incident authorities have attributed to the National Liberation Army (ELN).
According to preliminary reports, three explosive charges were deployed using drones in two separate strikes directed at the local police facility. The blasts caused structural damage to the station.
Officials confirmed that no police officers or civilians were injured or killed during the attack.
Following the explosions, armed clashes broke out between guerrilla members and public security forces around the municipality’s main square and access bridge, escalating tensions in the area.
The Chocó Department Government activated an emergency Public Order Committee in response to the incident. Residents were advised to avoid police facilities as National Police and Army units reinforced their presence in Tadó to secure the region and prevent further attacks.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing as security operations continue in the area.
