Jamal Connects Jamaica and Trinidad on New Dancehall Single “Tags,” Produced by KXNGS Records

Jamaican Dancehall artiste Jamal brings a cross-Caribbean connection to his latest release, “Tags,” a 2026 single produced by Trinidadian production house KXNGS Records.

The collaboration pairs Jamal’s energetic delivery and street-influenced lyrical style with a dark, bass-heavy instrumental from the Carenage-based production outfit. The result is a release that connects two active Dancehall markets while giving Trinidadian production another opportunity to reach Jamaican audiences.

Jamal Brings His Street-Inspired Style to “Tags”

Jamal has been building his name through a distinctive approach to modern Dancehall, combining aggressive delivery, quick flows and the street slang associated with Jamaica’s current Dunce and 39Gud movements.

On “Tags,” he maintains that identity through a hook built around the phrase “We Pop Tags, We Pop Bottles,” alongside references to Dunce, 39Gud and FullyDunce.

The song draws on themes of status, luxury and celebration, with Jamal using his familiar vocal approach to give the record its character. His delivery is direct and energetic, matching the track’s heavier instrumental without losing the catchy elements needed to make the hook memorable.

The release adds to a growing catalogue that includes songs such as “Godspeed,” “Motivate,” “Rich Lifestyle” and “Faada.”

KXNGS Records Supplies the Trinidadian Sound

Production comes from KXNGS Records, based in Carenage, Trinidad and Tobago. The collaboration places a Jamaican vocalist over a Trinidadian-produced Dancehall instrumental, creating an interesting connection between the two islands’ music scenes.

The riddim takes a darker, minimalist direction, built around heavy bass and a stripped-back arrangement that leaves room for Jamal’s vocals to cut through. Rather than overcrowding the instrumental, the production allows the rhythm and vocal delivery to carry the record.

KXNGS Records’ involvement is particularly notable because cross-island collaborations provide opportunities for Trinidadian producers to extend their reach beyond the local market. For Jamaican artistes, working with regional production houses also creates opportunities to experiment with different instrumental approaches while maintaining their own musical identity.

The Official Music Video

The official music video premiered on JamalOfficialVEVO alongside the release. Creative contributions from Magix ByArt, also known as Dario Magix, and Krymelife are credited on the project.

The visual presentation complements the track’s aggressive Dancehall character, bringing another dimension to the song’s street-inspired themes and overall identity.

The video also carries a disclaimer stating that the project was filmed in controlled environments for artistic and entertainment purposes.

A Jamaica–Trinidad Connection

Beyond the single itself, “Tags” highlights the continuing exchange between Jamaican and Trinidadian music creators. Both territories have influential Dancehall audiences and distinctive musical identities, making collaborations between their artistes and producers an important part of the wider Caribbean music landscape.

For Jamal, the release adds another production partnership to his catalogue. For KXNGS Records, it places a Trinidadian-produced record alongside the output of a Jamaican artiste with an established online audience.

“Tags” is another example of how Caribbean music continues to move across borders, with artistes and producers finding new ways to connect their sounds and audiences.
