Masicka Makes History With Sold-Out Barclays Center Headline Show

Jamaican dancehall star Masicka made history Saturday night, August 15, after selling out the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for his first solo U.S. arena headline show.

Billed as Reggae Fest Presents Masicka, the landmark concert came just one day after he released his third studio album, Forever Reign, through Def Jam Recordings.

A Major Dancehall Milestone

Masicka now stands among only a small group of Jamaican dancehall artists to solo-headline a major U.S. arena.

The Brooklyn crowd, made up heavily of his dedicated Crocs fan base, packed the 19,000-seat venue.

He used the opportunity to showcase both his established catalog and his newest material.

Masicka Brings Out Heavy Hitters

The night featured an impressive lineup of special guests.

Elephant Man, Tarrus Riley, I-Octane, Lola Brooke and Swizz Beatz all joined Masicka during the concert.

Vanessa Bling also made a surprise appearance, adding another major Jamaican name to the historic night.

The guest lineup helped bridge Jamaican dancehall, reggae and Brooklyn’s hip-hop culture.

A Set Built Around His Biggest Records

Masicka opened the show with “Whites,” immediately setting the tone for the packed arena.

He then moved through fan favorites including “Mute,” “Tyrant” and “Hit & Run.”

The performance also introduced Brooklyn to live versions of songs from Forever Reign, including “1 Psalm.”

That track features Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley and serves as the album’s opening statement.

The timing of the concert was strategic.

Masicka released Forever Reign on August 14, just 24 hours before taking the Barclays Center stage.

The 17-track project continues the evolution of his previous albums, 438 and Generation of Kings.

It features Damian Marley, Blaqbonez, Kraff Gad and Lila Iké.

The album’s themes of power, longevity and perseverance also fit perfectly with the significance of the Brooklyn performance.

The Barclays Center show represents another major step in Masicka’s international expansion.
