Spider-Man jumps onto pickup truck during clash with far-right agitator Jake Lang at Minneapolis protest
A person dressed as Spider-Man gets into a physical confrontation with far-right agitator Jake Lang during a chaotic demonstration outside Minneapolis City Hall on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The unusual encounter unfolds as tensions escalate between Lang’s supporters and counter-protesters gathered at the downtown rally.
Spider-Man Joins the Confrontation
Video footage captures the costumed individual leaping onto the back of a pickup truck before tussling with Lang.
The confrontation quickly becomes one of the most attention-grabbing moments from the demonstration, as clashes break out between opposing groups.
Police say protesters on both sides used chemical irritants during the confrontation. Authorities say they found no evidence that Minneapolis police deployed any chemical irritant at the scene.
Jake Lang Arrested
Lang, a far-right activist and pardoned January 6 insurrectionist, organized the demonstration outside City Hall.
According to Minneapolis police, Lang and two others drove two vehicles onto the sidewalk and toward a crowd of counter-protesters. The group later fled the area after counter-protesters surrounded the vehicles.
Police tracked the vehicles and eventually stopped both. Authorities arrested Lang and members of his group on probable cause for riot.
11 Arrests Reported
Minneapolis police say 11 people were arrested or taken into custody in connection with the demonstrations.
Three officers also suffered injuries during the unrest. One officer went to a local hospital but was later released. Police say none of the injured officers suffered serious injuries.
The incident comes as Lang faces separate felony charges in Minnesota over the alleged destruction of an ice sculpture at the state Capitol in March.
The Spider-Man confrontation quickly becomes one of the defining visuals from Saturday’s chaotic protest.
