Three arrested after fight breaks out at National Cherry Festival in Michigan
Three people were arrested after a fight erupted during the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, prompting a police response that ended with one suspect being tased.
According to the Traverse City Police Department, officers responded to the festival’s food court on the night of July 9 after receiving reports of a fight involving multiple people.
Officer assaulted during response
Police said an officer attempted to intervene as the disturbance unfolded.
During the response, a second individual allegedly pushed and assaulted the officer. Another officer then deployed a Taser to bring the situation under control.
Authorities later arrested three people in connection with the incident.
Juvenile taken to hospital
A juvenile involved in the altercation was transported to Munson Medical Center for evaluation.
Police have not released additional information about the juvenile’s condition.
Investigation continues
The Traverse City Police Department said the investigation remains active. Because the suspects have not yet been arraigned, the department declined to provide an on-camera interview.
Officials added that officers will continue maintaining a strong presence throughout the National Cherry Festival to help ensure public safety.
