Masked gang armed with machetes surrounds car in Manchester

A masked group armed with machetes was captured on video surrounding a car at traffic lights in Manchester, England, during a daylight incident that is now being investigated by police.

The footage appears to show several individuals arriving on motorcycles before surrounding the vehicle and striking the car with machetes as shocked witnesses look on.

Police have confirmed that two people have been arrested as enquiries continue into the incident.

A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault, grievous bodily harm, possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, evading police custody and assaulting an officer.

A 22-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of a Class B drug and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. Both individuals remain in custody for questioning.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any additional suspects.

Police have also stated that there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.
