Prince Swanny & Kman 6ixx Carry T&T’s Dancehall Hopes at 2026 Caribbean Music Awards

Trinidad and Tobago will have two artists carrying the nation’s Dancehall hopes when the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards arrives in Port of Spain this September.

While local acts dominate the Soca and Zess categories, Prince Swanny and Kman 6ixx stand alone as Trinidad and Tobago’s representatives in the official Dancehall categories.

Their nominations highlight the continued rise of Trinibad on the regional stage.

Prince Swanny Targets Dancehall Album of the Year

Prince Swanny earned a Dancehall Album of the Year nomination for his acclaimed project Saint.

The album helped establish him as one of the Caribbean’s fastest-rising artists. It also introduced Trinidad’s trap-infused Dancehall sound to a wider audience.

Swanny now competes against Vybz Kartel, Masicka, Popcaan, Valiant, 450, Armanii, and Ding Dong in one of the night’s biggest categories.

His nomination also makes him one of the few non-Jamaican artists to challenge for one of Dancehall’s top honours.

Kman 6ixx Eyes Dancehall Impact Award

Kman 6ixx represents Trinidad and Tobago in the Dancehall Impact Award category.

The award celebrates artists who shaped Dancehall through music, culture and influence over the past year.

Kman continues to build his profile across the Caribbean despite ongoing performance restrictions in parts of the region.

He joins nominees Skippa, RajahWild, Malie Donn, Nigy Boy, Ayetian, D’yani, and Stalk Ashley.

Trinidad Hosts a Historic Weekend

The 2026 Caribbean Music Awards will run from September 18–20 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Organisers will stage the main ceremony on September 19 at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) in Port of Spain.

The event marks the first time the Caribbean Music Awards will take place in the Caribbean after previous editions in New York.

Meanwhile, Nailah Blackman will co-host the ceremony alongside comedian Majah Hype.

T&T’s Influence Goes Beyond the Nominees

Trinidad’s impact stretches beyond the artist categories.

Producer Akiel “BlacksTheMan” Riley worked on “Wah Yo Deh Pan” by Ayetian and Govana.

The track earned nominations for Dancehall Song of the Year and Dancehall Collaboration of the Year. His production gives Trinidad another major presence at the awards.

Fans Still Have Time to Vote

Public voting remains open until August 10, 2026.

Supporters across Trinidad and Tobago can still vote for Prince Swanny and Kman 6ixx before the winners are announced.

Both artists have already secured their place in history. However, a victory on home soil would make the moment even more memorable.
