TikTok Influencer César Gastélum Shot Dead During Livestream in Mexico
Mexican TikTok influencer César Gastélum was shot and killed while livestreaming with friends in Culiacán, Sinaloa, according to local authorities.
Gastélum, who had nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok, built a large audience through comedy videos before his tragic death.
Gunmen Open Fire During Livestream
Authorities said Gastélum was broadcasting live outside a fast-food restaurant when two men on a motorcycle approached the group.
Video circulating online appears to show one of the suspects opening fire at close range before both men fled the scene.
Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward. However, Gastélum died from his injuries.
Police Launch Investigation
Officials in Sinaloa confirmed the influencer’s death and launched a large security operation following the shooting.
Investigators have not identified the suspects or announced a motive.
The killing comes as Culiacán continues to experience violence linked to rival organized crime groups battling for control of the region.
Death Draws Comparisons to Earlier Case
Gastélum’s killing has drawn comparisons to the 2025 murder of Mexican beauty influencer Valeria Márquez.
Márquez was also fatally shot while livestreaming from the salon where she worked in Jalisco.
Her death sparked international headlines and renewed concerns over violence targeting public figures in Mexico.
The latest attack has once again placed the dangers facing content creators under the spotlight.
